Lecture Series Coordinator

The role of the Lecture Series Coordinator is to nurture and grow the TFS community by organizing events which bring parents together. This position is a voting member of the Parents' Association Council (PAC).

Key Duties:

  • Submit an annual budget at the Autumn PAC meeting in accordance with financial requirements described in the PA Constitution.
  • Brainstorm possible themes, relevant topics, an optimal calendar and share with PAC for approval.
  • With the PA VP and the TFS Communications department, develop and execute a communication strategy to best promote events and drive attendance.
  • Recruit a team of volunteers and school administration to execute the lecture, which includes; reservation of appropriate space, execution of logistics, refreshments, set up, etc.
  • Prepare a report on events for the school year to be included in the PA AGM.

Other PA Duties:

  • As a member of the PAC, act as an ambassador and resource for parents and administration to encourage an inclusive TFS community.
  • Attend all monthly PAC meetings; participate in discussions and vote as required.
  • Remain in good standing on the PAC and maintain strict adherence to the TFS Code of Conduct and PA Constitution.

Key skills/abilities/experience:

  • Prior experience in a Standing Committee Chair position is an asset along with experience in event planning.
  • Solid project management skills, and ability to manage, people, time, budget and quality execution of the event.
  • Must have strong communication skills, and ability to pursue a confidential and diplomatic approach with all TFS stakeholders.

Commitment:

  • The post is for one year and can be renewed for up to four consecutive years.
  • The time commitment required is on average 3-4 hours a month which includes, preparation of work and attendance in various meetings ie. PAC and committee meetings. Plus a minimum of 2-3 hours for each event. The role is cyclical in nature; some months may be busier than others based on the time of year.
